Girl in Kenya

Second to Uganda, Kenya has sent the highest number of children on Choir tours. Since the Choir does not operate a school in Kenya, upon their return, the office staff ensures that former Choir children are enrolled in schools that promote academic excellence and comprehensive life skills education. They act as a parent – they make sure each child attends school, keeps their grades up and is generally provided for.

There are currently 26 former Choir children in primary education and 41 in secondary schooling.

21 young adults from previous Choirs are currently attending college or university in Kenya, with a further 17 awaiting placement.

A Music for Life Centre operates in partnership with Toi Primary School, a large school located in the Kibera slum area of Nairobi. Here large numbers of vulnerable children are tutored in song, dance, sports and games that enhance their learning ability and develop confidence and communication skills.
