With less than a week to go until this year’s annual African Children’s Choir NYC CHANGEMAKERS GALA we are excited to bring you more exclusive details about the night – including honoring friend of the Choir, Connie Britton.
Currently starring in the hit ABC musical drama Nashville, Connie has been a long time supporter of the African Children’s Choir, helping us raise much-needed awareness for our education and relief projects that benefit 1,000’s of vulnerable children across some of Africa’s most in-need countries. Connie, who has been nominated for four Emmy’s and a Grammy, also starred in Friday Night Lights, where eagle-eyed fans will remember her character Tami regularly wearing an African Children’s Choir t-shirt to bed.
Julia Barnett Tracy, International Choir Operations Director for the African Children’s Choir said of Connie’s support “We are extremely grateful to Connie Britton for using her platform to spread the word about the African Children’s Choir. Since 2008 she has been a faithful donor and supporter of our projects in Africa. We are delighted to honor her at our 5th Annual New York City Gala”.
Because of this remarkable dedication, commitment and love for our cause we will be presenting Connie with our ChangeMakers Award at the gala next Thursday evening.
Connie will be bringing along some very familiar faces to the evening in support, including country singing superstar SHERYL CROW and ‘According to Jim’ and fellow ‘Nashville’ actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley.
Along with last years ChangeMaker award winner, Big & Rich star Big Kenny, and performances from Broadway star Saycon Sengbloh (currently Martha Reeves in Motown, Fela, Rent), Marty Thomas (Grammy nominated recording artist and Broadway star), AND the African Children’s Choir – what more could you ask for from a star studded evening of celebration, entertainment and fundraising – all taking place Thursday 21st November at City Winery in NYC.
