The founder of Music for Life and the African Children’s Choir has recently visited Uganda and Rwanda. His coming has seen the re-birth or what you would call the reunion of the former members of the African Children’s Choir. It was a day full of fun, interaction, sharing in music and hearing from our very own Daddy Ray as he gave words of wisdom, encouragement and threw more light on the different areas of prosperity for the organization.
Ray Barnett visited different projects, one of which included the African Children’s Choir Primary School where he was welcomed with music and singing accompanied with dancing and clapping, just like a hero. Indeed he is a hero and a role model to thousands around the world, especially in the continent of Africa where his vision has seen to it that those who were once homeless, starved, mistreated and orphaned are now the Doctors, Engineers, Teachers, Accountants, Lawyers, and Managers of today. Many more are being educated with future dreams of being Judges, Cardiologists and Surgeons to name just a few professions, not only that, Timothy, a nine year old pupil at the African Children’s Choir Primary School, says “when I grow up I want to be the President of Uganda”.
In Rwanda, Ray visited Pastor Leo who is ill. Pastor Leo has served the organization for many years as the first contact person and children’s pastor in Rwanda. Ray also visited ACC children who were once in the Choir and those that are still in school. On his journey in Rwanda, Ray visited Francoise, a former Choir child, and her head master Mr. Dube. Francoise was the second best student in the whole of Rwanda in her National Exams. You can read more about Francoise’s achievements here.
The purpose of Ray's visit was to lay the ground work for the big 30th year celebration that will take place in Uganda next year. This will mark 30 years since the start of Music for Life and the African Children's Choir program, after its founding in 1984 during the Liberation War. Plans are being undertaken to see to it that this day is a big success.
