About The Tour
Internationally celebrated choir Ubuntu is set to embark across Australia.

Meet The Ubuntu Choir

Allan
I'm from the Bugishu tribe in Eastern Uganda. I enjoy learning new things, especially in science, because it allows me to put my abilities to the test. Joining the Music for Life Choir program and travelling with the 39th African Children's Choir enabled me to discover so much that my small brain at the time had never imagined was possible.

Angel
I am from Uganda. I enjoy people and sports, and I believe teamwork allows us to accomplish much more. My living situation was destitute at the time, with my mother unemployed and my father seriously ill. It was difficult for them to raise four children. I joined the Music For Life Choir program in 2011 and went on tour with the 39th African Children's Choir.

Emmanuel
I grew up in a little community in Bulaga, central Uganda. I am a happy, smiling, peaceful young man who enjoys adventure and travel. Participating in the 40th African Children's Choir program was the pinnacle of my life. It presented me with an extraordinary turning point that transformed the course of my life.

Eric
I grew up in a tiny family with my mother, father, and older brother in Kampala's sprawling slum neighbourhood of Bukoto. We had no easy life, largely because my parents did not have much. My parents had no regular source of income and relied on odd jobs around the village to make ends meet. When I joined the 39th African Children's Choir, it felt as if light had appeared not only in my life but also in my family's.

Faith
Faith is a hard-working and intelligent young lady. Faith will assume leadership of her fellow Ubuntu colleagues as group leader and conductor during performances. Faith sang in the 35th African Children's Choir, which she describes as a life-changing and thrilling experience, offering a platform for growth, development, inspiration, and, most importantly, spiritual and educational milestones.

Francis
I am a proud Kenyan. I was born in Escarpment, a little community perched along the spectacular walls of East Africa's Great Rift Valley. Although I did not have the opportunity to tour with the African Children's Choir as a child, the Music For Life sponsorship helped pave the door for a better education and put me on the route to where I am today.

Gibson
I am from Uganda. I enjoy music and believe God has given me a knack for song writing, and a passion for sports, particularly football and volleyball. I enjoy being happy and spending time with family and friends. The African children's choir provided me with a new life and family that I never expected to find. Choir 39 supported me through all seasons, and it was wonderful to share life with friends who had become family.

Gideon
I enjoy music, painting, learning, and bringing ideas to life. My love for music derives from my family, who, as members of a church community, led the singing and drumming at church. My mother was a skilled musician and drummer, and I developed an interest in musical instruments, particularly African drums, after witnessing her perform. When I joined the African Children's Choir, they developed and honed my musical abilities, and I am now an expert on the African drums.

Lyn
I am from Kenya. My friends usually describe me as tolerant, self-motivated, and compassionate. I grew up in Kibera, Kenya's largest slum community. Life in a large slum community was more difficult than one could imagine, with varied vices and injustices. Clean drinking water was difficult to obtain, and security and education were all pipe dreams. So, when I joined the 36th African Children's Choir, I saw a glimmer of hope, and I realised that I had so much potential to become someone.

Mark
I am from Kisimbiri, a little village in the Wakiso district of central Uganda. I am passionate about assisting others and enjoy music, particularly composing and performing musical instruments. The African Children's Choir fostered all of my musical talents and provided me with a fresh opportunity for a better life.

Naomi
I would characterize myself as a charismatic go-getter who enjoys working with children, and the community, and watching others succeed. I am resilient and motivated by a strong desire to make a difference. Hard work, ethics, and the power of togetherness are among my fundamental values. As a result, volunteering with the Music for Life outreach and mentorship programs, as well as the World Scout movement, has had a significant impact on my leadership development.

Peninah
I am passionate about the things I enjoy doing, and my satisfaction stems from assisting and seeing people satisfied. I'm also an encourager. I was born into an impoverished family. Music For Life provided me with a wonderful education, love, joy, and acceptance for who I was, as well as demonstrating that God always has a plan for me, no matter how difficult life may be.

Samantha
I am also a former member of the 39th African Children's Choir. Music is my happy place, and I enjoy connecting and learning new things. Spending time with family and friends is another thing I enjoy doing. Generally, I enjoy being cheerful. I was chosen to join the African Children's Choir and consider myself fortunate to have had that opportunity.

Susan
I care deeply about people, children, and the community's well-being. I enjoy the colour green, travelling, and anything sweet that satisfies my palate. Above all, I love God and His most excellent word, advice, and influence. I grew up in a family of five: my parents, two siblings, and me. I wasn't sure how I'd receive an education, let alone how my siblings would do, but hope was not gone. By God's goodness, the African Children's Choir discovered me in 2009.
